About Us
At the heart of Spur Corporation’s vision of Leading for the Greater Good, lies the Spur Foundation.
The channel for how our corporate social investment initiatives come to life. The Foundation was established on International Mandela Day, 18 July 2012 with a meaningful donation of R670 000 from the Spur Group. This contribution was a tribute to the spirit of Mandela Day’s 67 minutes and the founding of the Spur family in 1967.
Since its inception, the Spur Foundation has proudly supported, and continues to support a range of causes close to our hearts. Guided by our motto, “Nourish, Nurture, Now!”, we focus on socio-economic development initiatives that uplift South African families, with a special emphasis on children. Our efforts are rooted in the values of being united by purpose and believing that caring for one another is what truly defines us.
While there have been meaningful improvements for South African children since 1994, particularly in the early years, the early childhood development (ECD) sector still faces serious challenges such as limited training for caregivers, a lack of proper facilities and infrastructure, insufficient funding, and persistent issues around nutrition.
The Spur Foundation is predominantly focussed on early childhood development and supports projects and organisations that:
Empower the women (and men) who dedicate their lives to our youngest members of society
Put the child at the centre i.e. quality school readiness programmes, ECD resources, parent education and support groups, play, maternal health etc.
Our purpose is to lead with unwavering integrity, fostering inclusivity and empowerment across all communities. The Spur Foundation aims to uplift and improve the lives of South African families, their communities and the environments.

We have an outstanding team of dedicated and passionate
individuals, who are committed to the work we do.

+Funding Support
The Spur Foundation and various brand charitable initiatives support projects and organisations aligned to the brands’ own ethos;
Spur Foundation - Training of teachers at under-resourced day care centres
Spur Full Tummy Fund - Funds nutritional feeding programmes at under-resourced day care centres through partners such as The Lunchbox Fund and ForAfrika.
John Dory’s Beyond the Shore - Funds swimming lessons for children through the NSRI
RocoMamas Feeding Creator Minds - Empowering young creatives through various NGO partners.

ECD Centres
Due to the large number of requests we receive, we are currently not in a position to support individual ECD centres. We partner with NGO partners to implement our programmes at under-resourced day care centres.
